Gold Import and Export Figures for 2024
In the past year, gold imports amounted to approximately $17 billion, while exports stood at around $11.1 billion. Gold re-exports accounted for nearly 50% of all exported goods from Armenia in 2024. This information was provided by the Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, during the discussion of the 2024 budget execution in the National Assembly.
In 2024, exports totaled $13.1 billion, but without gold, this figure was $7.5 billion. Thus, the total exports from the country increased from $6.8 billion to $7.5 billion, even excluding gold. Gold also represented a significant portion of the country's imports. Papoyan noted that from the beginning of 2025, this re-export scheme will almost cease to exist; however, similarly to the past, it has not significantly impacted the country's economic growth, and its decline has not resulted in job cuts or actual production reductions.
