Why Pashazade Does Not Wish to Meet Catholicos Garegin II

The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukurlu Pashazade, does not wish to meet with Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. He stated this during a conversation with reporters, as reported by Azerbaijani media.

"I do not consider it appropriate to meet with Garegin. Aside from his religious role, Garegin has taken on a political role. It is not befitting of a clergyman to engage in such a level of politics, therefore, I currently have no intention to meet with him," he said.

“In the past, the 'Yerevan Gaziath' operated in Yerevan, which encompassed all of Armenia and was subordinate to the Caucasus Muslims Office. Later, the Azerbaijani people were displaced, and our compatriots could no longer live there, which is why our Gaziath was also forced to cease its activities,” Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukurlu Pashazade stated in Baku while discussing the purported resumption of the 'Yerevan Gaziath's' activities.
