One Month's Rainfall Comes in 20 Minutes, No System Can Withstand It, Kostanyan Says

In Yerevan, the volume of rainfall equivalent to one month's worth falls within just 20 minutes, and no system can withstand such a downpour. This statement was made by Hayk Kostanyan, the press secretary of the Yerevan mayor.

According to him, significant work is being done on the sewerage network during the 2023-2024 period in areas where there has been no sewerage system at all. The city administration has planned to address a total of 83 addresses, covering an area of 90 km in length, which includes renovations in unsewered neighborhoods as well as existing sewer systems that are outdated and in dire need of renovation.
