Iran Demands Washington to Lift Sanctions
“Tehran does not see a change in the U.S. position regarding the lifting of sanctions imposed on Iran,” said the official representative of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, today.
“Unfortunately, I must inform you that the American side has not clarified its position until now,” the spokesperson for Iran's diplomatic authority noted.
“It must be stated very clearly that those sanctions, which serve as a tool to pressure the Iranian people, must be lifted, and a return to the previously applied practices must be excluded,” Baghaei emphasized.
Iran demands that Washington lifts all sanctions imposed in recent years in exchange for halting its nuclear program.
“We must be assured that the severe sanctions imposed against the Iranian people will indeed be lifted in the economic, banking, and trade sectors. The negative experiences of the past should not be repeated,” said the diplomat.
Earlier, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt announced that the U.S. President's special envoy, Stephen Wittenhof, has sent a detailed and acceptable proposal regarding the nuclear program to Iranian authorities, according to Washington.
