Import of Large Quantity of Watermelons to Armenia Suspended

The import of 213 tons of contaminated watermelons has been suspended in Armenia, according to a report from the Food Safety Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia.

The Inspectorate conducted sampling of 557 tons of watermelon batches imported into Armenia from May 26 to May 31, 2025.

"As a result of laboratory testing, as of June 1, 213 tons of watermelons were banned from entering the country due to discrepancies found in the nitrate levels," the statement noted.

It was also mentioned that the results of the tests for the other watermelon batches will be released as soon as they are available.
