Lawyer Addresses Rumors About Samvel Shahramanyan's Arrest

Dear compatriots and esteemed representatives of the media, the President of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, is not under arrest; such information is false and aims at specific purposes. Furthermore, Samvel Shahramanyan does not hold a defendant's procedural status in any proceedings involving him.

This was stated by lawyer Roman Yeritsyan. “Regarding the proceedings being conducted by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, I would like to point out that he is being interrogated as a witness and that the proceedings have not been initiated against him. As for the intensity and continuity of the interrogations, they are only conditioned by the volume of the proceeding. At the same time, I request understanding and respect regarding the confidentiality of the proceedings and not to disclose information,” he wrote.

It is worth mentioning that media reports had circulated claiming that Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan has been summoned for questioning 5-6 times in the past month by the RA Investigative Committee's Military Investigative Main Department. According to ArmLur.am, the case pertains to the surrender of the Republic of Artsakh, military negligence during the war, as well as the transfer of weapons and ammunition to the enemy.
