Lavrov on New Round of Negotiations

A new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will be announced soon. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“During the negotiations held in Istanbul on May 16, we insisted that all discriminatory laws be repealed, and we will continue to do so in the next round of direct negotiations, which we will announce in the near future,” he said at the 13th meeting of high representatives on security issues.

Lavrov added that Russia has long been prepared for negotiations with Kyiv, but Ukraine has been refusing; European powers have not allowed it to participate in that process.

It is noteworthy that the day before, during a press conference following talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Lavrov said that Moscow would again turn to Ankara for the second round of negotiations with Ukraine. For his part, the Turkish foreign minister assured that the republic is ready to accept delegations from Moscow and Kyiv at any time and sees its unique mission in this.
