National Assembly Rejects ‘I Have Honor’ Faction's Proposal
The draft statement initiated by the ‘I Have Honor’ faction on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War was not included in the agenda of the National Assembly’s plenary session, with 27 votes in favor, 54 against, and 2 abstentions.
Prior to the vote, Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the ‘I Have Honor’ faction, stated that the proposal was discussed in a completely different context within the committee, involving geopolitical interests, distortion of facts, and secondary comments unrelated to the topic. “No matter what you do or say, there are historical facts that cannot be edited,” he asserted.
It is worth mentioning that the statement by the ‘I Have Honor’ faction highlights that 80 years ago, through joint efforts and significant sacrifices, civilized humanity achieved victory over Nazi Germany and its allies. The Second World War, unprecedented in its scale, was essentially a civilizational struggle against xenophobia. The statement also addressed the liberation of Shushi on May 9, 1992, as a glorious victory of the Armenian people.
