Discussion on the Implementation of the Rome Statute
The head of the Office of the Representative for International Legal Matters, Liparit Drmeyean, has received Osvaldo Zavala Gillera, the head of the International Criminal Court (ICC) office. During the meeting, steps taken towards the implementation of the Rome Statute following its ratification by the ICC were presented.
The provision of expert opinions by the ICC on legislative amendments was highlighted as crucial. The necessity of active cooperation with the ICC in enhancing the capacities of domestic law enforcement agencies, considering the specificities of investigating certain crimes, was emphasized.
Additionally, the need to expand the ICC's jurisdiction regarding the crime of aggression was addressed. Several questions regarding the recent situation surrounding the ICC were also discussed. Both parties expressed their willingness to continue working on matters of mutual interest.
