This Question Will Be Critical: Lavrov
The legitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will play a fundamental role when it comes time to sign a peace agreement. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made this statement, as reported by TASS.
“When it comes to the signing, the question of legitimacy will be crucial, because if those whose legitimacy, to put it mildly, is no longer convincing to anyone, sign the agreement, then their successors may later question the accord reached,” Lavrov said during a high-level conference dedicated to historical southern Russian territories.
At the same time, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry drew attention to the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin has “clearly outlined his assessment of Zelensky and his regime's legitimacy.” He emphasized, however, that “we do not refuse to establish contact with him and his administration to agree on the principles of a resolution that suit everyone.”
