U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the approval of a missile defense shield project valued at $175 billion, known as the "Iron Dome." He has appointed General Michael Guetlein of the U.S. Space Force to lead the program.

The project aims to create a network of satellites capable of detecting, tracking, and, if necessary, destroying enemy missiles. "The Iron Dome will protect our homeland," Trump said. The defense shield is expected to be operational by January 2029, before the end of his presidential term.
