Vatican Ready to Host Russia-Ukraine Negotiations, Trump Claims

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the Vatican is willing to host negotiations aimed at ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“The Vatican, through Pope Francis, has declared that they would be very interested in conducting negotiations. Let the process begin,” Trump stated.

The terms for establishing a ceasefire and halting the conflict will be discussed directly between the parties involved.

Trump made his first remarks on the social media platform Truth after a two-hour phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I just completed a two-hour conversation with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. I believe it went very well. Russia and Ukraine will begin negotiations imminently for a ceasefire and, more importantly, for the end of the war. The terms will be negotiated between the two sides, as it should be, because only they know the details of the negotiations that no one else does. The tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent. If it hadn’t been, I would say so now, not later.”

“Russia wants to have broad trade relations with the United States after this terrible ‘slaughter’ ends, and I agree. Russia has a tremendous opportunity to create a vast number of jobs and wealth. Its potential is limitless. Similarly, Ukraine could greatly benefit from trade as it rebuilds its country.”

The negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will begin immediately. I have informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb right after my call with President Putin,” Trump wrote.

The Vatican, through Pope Francis, has expressed strong interest in hosting the negotiations. “Let the process begin,” Trump concluded.
