First Migrants Deported from the U.S.

The first charter flight has arrived from the United States to Honduras and Colombia, carrying 64 citizens from those countries who have voluntarily left the U.S. under the 'self-deportation' program announced by the Donald Trump administration. This was reported in a press release from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The department stated that illegal migrants registered themselves in the new CBP Home application. A charter flight was organized from Houston with two stops, as reported by DW. They received free passage, a payment of $1,000, and a chance to return to the U.S. on legal grounds.

Authorities in Honduras, where 38 individuals returned, allocated an additional $100 to each and provided food vouchers, as well as promised assistance in finding jobs. The 26 individuals who returned to Colombia received 'social services' from the authorities in that country, according to officials from the U.S. DHS.
