If Karen Karapetyan Were Elected, This Story Would Not Exist: Kocharyan

The second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, stated in a conversation with reporters that the 2018 revolution could have been prevented. According to Kocharyan, during Serzh Sargsyan's tenure, there was the takeover of a police station, and despite three people being killed, a part of the public supported the terrorists.

Earlier, there was the 'Electric Yerevan' movement, and it was necessary to think and understand that there were problems. 'They said, surely we wouldn't shoot. The question turned black and white. But who says you should have fired? Why do you see the solution only in shooting? It was only necessary to try to find a person from their circle, select a person with a strong character among the 150,000 Republicans, and try to calm the situation. It might have worked, it might not have, but you would have made an effort,' said Kocharyan, expressing confidence that it would have succeeded if the right person had been chosen.

He also mentioned that if Karen Karapetyan had been elected from the very beginning, this story would not exist.
