Everything is under control, if they speak, I will say more: Kocharyan

During the 2018 revolution, former President Robert Kocharyan called Serzh Sargsyan to inquire about the situation, Kocharyan disclosed in interviews with several media outlets.

"Different people are approaching me, saying, 'You should also say something about how the situation is slipping away, no one is doing anything.' I called Serzh Sargsyan, asking, 'How do you assess the situation? Is there a problem? I am hearing this from different places; it’s rolling like a snowball in another direction, you are going to lose control.' He calmly replied, 'There is no problem, everything is under control.' I was surprised and asked him if he was sure; I probably asked the same question two times. He said very calmly, 'Everything is under control.' A few days later, he resigned, about 5-6 days later," said Kocharyan.

According to him, he had not had much contact with Sargsyan for a considerable time before this. "When someone tells you very calmly that everything is under control, what could I do? I had not been in contact with him for quite a long time, but given the situation, I decided that I needed to call and deliver that alarm to him. I assume it was a misjudgment of the situation. I won’t say more, but if they talk, I will say more," he noted, adding that the people who are talking are not aware of the details and are 'sounding things out of thin air.'
