Putin is Afraid: This War Must End, Says Zelensky
In the case of Putin coming to Turkey, we would have had real opportunities to end the war. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his speech at the sixth summit of the European Political Community in Tirana, at the first plenary session, as reported by RBC-Ukraine.
"This war, Russia's war against Ukraine, must end as soon as possible; Ukraine needs peace. If Putin were not afraid to come to Turkey this week, we would have had a real opportunity to halt this war. I was ready for a direct meeting with Putin in Istanbul or Ankara, not only for a meeting but to resolve all important issues. But he agreed to nothing. As you can see, Russia has sent a very low-level delegation to Istanbul," Zelensky said.
It is noteworthy that the Istanbul negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations have concluded.
