1.5 Billion Drams in Salaries Received, What Useful Things Have They Done: Tunyan

The Secretary of the Civil Contract faction, Arthur Hovhannisyan, stated during a press briefing that our colleague's reference to political vendetta pertains to the implementation of our political commitments, which will result in the removal of those individuals from the political life of Armenia. He made this remark while responding to questions about whether they share Arsen Torosyan's view that a political vendetta should be conducted, including against Torosyan himself.

"Are you comparing Levon Kocharian's rhetoric to what Arsen Torosyan said? Was that new to you? What are you saying? Levon Kocharian has uttered sexual insults in the National Assembly, and after that, you come here trying to bring comments to the forefront? Levon Kocharian has made sexual insults, and there has been a response to that," Hovhannisyan noted.

Also present at the press briefing was Babken Tunyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction. He also addressed the incident. "It is much more important to see what our opposition is engaged in. Our opposition is busy generating situations of this type. That situation started when the Chief Prosecutor announced figures that did not please the opposition. I want to mention another figure: our opposition's deputies together have received more than 1.5 billion drams in salaries over the past four years. As journalists, wouldn't you find it interesting to understand what taxpayers have paid that much money for? What useful things have they done?" he added.

When asked if their salaries were justified, he responded, "Yes, ours are justified. For example, I deal with several citizens during the day regarding various issues throughout the week, and whether that's good or bad, I am working. But have you seen any proposals from the opposition, aside from a few populist suggestions that are being voiced, whose implementation is impossible despite there being great desire?"
