FIFA Tightens Sanctions for Racial Insults
The International Football Federation Council (FIFA) has approved a new amendment to its disciplinary code aimed at strengthening the fight against racism and discrimination. This information was reported on FIFA's official website, according to armspot.
The new regulations introduce a three-phase anti-racism mechanism. The maximum fine for racist expressions has been raised to 5 million Swiss francs. Players and officials can help identify offenders, who will be banned from stadiums. FIFA has acquired the right to intervene and appeal racism-related cases in international arbitration. National federations are required to align their regulations with the new provisions.
“The new regulations represent an important step in the fight against racism and discrimination, in collaboration with our 211 members,” stated FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
