Araghchin Condemns and Calls to Prevent Such Criminal Acts
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchin has condemned the recent arson at the Iranian embassy in Stockholm and urged the Swedish government to prevent such criminal acts, according to Mehr news agency.
During a phone call with his Swedish counterpart, Maria Malmer Stenergard, Araghchin discussed several bilateral issues and consular matters. He condemned the arson incident at the Iranian embassy in Stockholm, calling on the Swedish government to take serious measures against those responsible for the incident and to implement necessary actions to prevent such attacks from recurring.
He also emphasized the need for closer consultations between Iran and Sweden to clarify misunderstandings and strengthen mutual cooperation.
In turn, Malmer Stenergard reaffirmed Sweden's commitment to the protection of diplomatic missions, assuring that Stockholm would take necessary measures to ensure the security of the Iranian embassy.
It is worth mentioning that the Iranian embassy in Stockholm was set on fire. The perpetrator placed two gallons of flammable liquid (40 liters of gasoline) at the entrance and ignited the door.
According to a statement released by the Iranian embassy, the fire quickly spread inside the building, causing serious damage to the interior decor, including wall panels and electrical wires. Thanks to the swift and courageous response of the embassy staff, the fire was extinguished before it could result in any casualties, particularly for the security personnel who were in immediate danger. However, the attack has caused significant stress among the staff and resulted in considerable material damage to the embassy's infrastructure.
