Arrest Made in Case of Arson on City Council Member's Wife's Car

On May 6, at 4:22 PM, a report was received that a car belonging to the wife of a Yerevan city council member was burning on Mkrtich Sedrakyan Street. The documents related to this intentional property damage incident were transferred to the Investigative Committee, where a criminal case was initiated, according to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan.

“Thanks to the immediate and extensive operational-intelligence measures taken by the Criminal Police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one individual was arrested on May 7 on the grounds of immediate suspicion of committing the crime. He has been presented to the pre-trial body. The investigations are ongoing,” he wrote.

It is noteworthy that the vehicle that was set on fire belonged to Gevorg Stepanyan, a member of the Yerevan City Council from the 'Mother Armenia' faction. This was reported by the faction leader Manuk Sukiasyan.
