May 8 Officially Declared Victory Day in the U.S. by the White House

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation declaring May 8 as Victory Day in World War II, reports TASS.
The document published on the White House website states that on this day, the American people pay tribute to all those who lost their lives and “reaffirm their commitment to ensuring the safety, prosperity, and freedom of America and the world.”
“Today our nation proudly commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Allied nations over National Socialism and Fascism. On Victory Day in World War II, we celebrate the unmatched strength and power of the United States Armed Forces and promise to defend our sacred right to be free from all threats, both foreign and domestic,” the document states.
