Skype Stops Operating Today

The Skype communication service will cease operations on May 5. This is stated in a message directed to users.

The program will transition to Teams, allowing access using Skype login credentials. Skype data will be available to users until January 2026, "to provide time to decide how to handle them," and users can also delete their data themselves. The data will be automatically deleted if no action is taken by January 2026.

The program has been operating since 2003. The transition from Skype to Teams is free for users and does not require any changes to login information.
