This is Covert Despotism: Marco Rubio
The U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has labeled the German party 'Alternative for Germany' (AfD) as a right-wing extremist despotism and urged Berlin to change its political course.
The co-chairs of the AfD, Tino Chrupalla and Alice Weidel, considered the classification of their party as a right-wing extremist movement to be an attack on the country’s democratic institutions.
Meanwhile, Germany's outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for caution and a careful examination of the possible procedure for banning the AfD.
“Germany has granted new powers to its intelligence services to spy on the opposition. This is not democracy; this is covert despotism. In reality, the extremists are not the popular AfD, which was second in the last elections, but rather the deadly open-border policies implemented by the establishment, against which the AfD stands. Germany must change its course,” wrote Rubio.
