Azerbaijan Accuses Russia of Cyberattack
On February 20, a cyberattack carried out on Azerbaijani media platforms was organized from Russian territory. According to Minval, this was announced by Ramid Namazov, the head of the relevant parliamentary committee.
According to him, the attack is attributed to the APT 29 hacker group (also known as Cozy Bear), which is connected to Russian state structures. Namazov stated that these actions violate the commitments established by the allied treaty between Baku and Moscow.
He noted that possible motives behind the attack could include the closure of the 'Russian House' in Baku and the discussions regarding the termination of Sputnik's representation in Azerbaijan.
During a meeting of the temporary committee reacting to foreign interference in parliament, MP Rasim Musabekov called for a discussion of the incident with the Russian side. He emphasized that a recurrence of such actions could have a clear political subtext.
“Cyberattacks should be viewed as a serious threat to national security, and the relevant bodies are obligated to respond accordingly,” Musabekov stated.
