It Wouldn't Have Happened If I Were President at the Time: Trump

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called the idea of returning Crimea to Ukraine absurd. He harshly criticized a New York Times article regarding negotiations surrounding Ukraine on the Truth Social platform.

“No matter what deal I would make regarding Russia/Ukraine, regardless of how good it is, even if it’s the best deal ever signed, the failing New York Times would write badly about it. Peter Baker and the very biased and incompetent writer, Lidl, followed the demands of their editor and wrote that Ukraine should return territories, including, I believe, Crimea, and other ridiculous demands to stop the most horrific killings since World War II,” Trump stated.

“Why doesn’t this lightweight journalist mention that it was Obama who allowed Russia to take Crimea from Ukraine without firing a shot? Peter Lidl also wrote a biography of Obama that is quite laudable but terribly written. That was a CATASTROPHE. Did Baker ever criticize Obama for surrendering Crimea? NO, not at all, only TRUMP is criticized, and I have nothing to do with this stupid war, other than the fact that I gave Ukraine ‘Javelins’ at the outset, while Obama gave them bedding. This is sleepy Joe Biden’s war, not mine. It was doomed from day one, and it should never have happened, and it wouldn’t have happened if I were president at the time.”

“I’m just trying to clean up the mess that Obama and Biden left me, and what a mess it is. Given the above, Putin had no reason to fire rockets into civilian areas, cities, and villages in recent days. This makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, but is just playing games with me, and he needs to be dealt with differently—through ‘banking operations’ or ‘secondary sanctions.’ Too many people are dying!!!” Trump wrote.
