ZPMK Issues Clarification

In response to journalists' inquiries regarding ZPMK's absence from the list of the 1000 largest taxpayers, the company clarifies that this is a result of royalty prepayments made last year during the first quarter.

“ZPMK is an organization whose significant portion of paid taxes consists of direct taxes, such as profit tax and royalties, unlike many large taxpayers who pay a considerable part of their taxes as value-added tax. The royalty prepayments calculated and paid for the year 2024 were returned to the company in the first quarter, resulting in a difference of 19.5 billion drams for that period.

Therefore, it is impossible to assess ZPMK’s tax levels based on first-quarter figures alone; annual figures should be considered, as real tax payments will only be fully visible at the end of the year. The adjustments of last year’s tax prepayments are summarized in the first quarter based on the final report.

Naturally, in the next quarter, the taxes paid by ZPMK will be reflected in the semi-annual figures, and undoubtedly, on an annual basis, the company will once again secure a leading position in the list of the 1000 largest taxpayers,” the company stated in its press release.
