The Attorney General on Proceedings Against Vardan Ghukasyan
The lawsuit for the illegal confiscation of property belonging to Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan was filed back in August 2024, and there is another case related to a criminal proceeding sent to court even earlier. This was announced today by the Attorney General of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, during a meeting of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the RA National Assembly.
“There are two different proceedings,” Vardapetyan clarified in response to a question from Alkhaz Ghazaryan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction, regarding the ongoing legal processes surrounding Vardan Ghukasyan and their possible connection to his election as Gyumri Mayor.
It should be noted that on April 1, it also became known that a criminal case was initiated concerning a recording attributed to Vardan Ghukasyan, who was the candidate for mayor from the Communist Party during the local government elections in Gyumri. The recording, which surfaced online, allegedly features Ghukasyan threatening and demanding the gathering of several individuals, stating that they would encounter problems.
