Shahramanyan Has Not Asked Kocharian for Such a Request

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation is a topic of discussion for Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan, who believes it is not appropriate to publicize his stance at this time. He stated this in a conversation with reporters following a meeting with members of the "Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Residents" in a van located at Freedom Square.

“Pashinyan's resignation can be demanded by the citizens who formed this government. We have our own position, which I don't think is right to publicize at the moment. Yes, I do have an Armenian passport, but as an official of Artsakh, I do not consider it correct to respond to that question,” he clarified.

Shahramanyan mentioned that he has met with former Armenian Presidents Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Serge Sargsyan, and Robert Kocharian. He also denied having asked Kocharian for space for an NGO, hence not receiving a rejection: “I am not constrained to meet with anyone,” said the Artsakh president.

He addressed the protest that took place near the Artsakh representation in Yerevan, stating that immediately after the protest, he had a discussion with former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army and head of the "United Homeland" faction in the Artsakh Parliament, Samvel Babayan. Babayan informed him that he has no connection to that protest and has made a relevant statement.

When asked about his relationship with Samvel Babayan, Shahramanyan replied: “The force led by Samvel Babayan is the second-largest political force in the Artsakh parliament, and our relations are just that.”

Regarding the return of Artsakh residents to their homeland, Shahramanyan emphasized that their collective return is a matter of international law and must remain on the agenda. “We have the right to ensure a dignified and safe return. For this purpose, a committee has been established by the National Assembly, chaired by former Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan. I believe they are carrying out effective work,” said the Artsakh president.
