I Agree, We Do Not Have Enough Weapons Today: Zelensky
Crimea will remain temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Our position cannot contradict the Constitution of Ukraine. We cannot give something away or not give it. This is our property, not just mine; it belongs to the people of Ukraine. Unfortunately, the temporarily occupied territories are temporarily occupied,” said the President of Ukraine.
He added that the referendum in Crimea took place under the “threat of weapons,” and its results “will not be recognized by anyone.”
“I agree with the fact that we do not have enough weapons today, weapons—not people… To say that we do not have an army is not true. I agree that Ukraine does not have sufficient weapons to restore control over Crimea by force,” said the President of Ukraine.
He further noted that discussions on territorial issues should only take place after a complete ceasefire. The world has sanctions, economic and diplomatic options for this.
“Such is our vision regarding U.S. proposals. We respond that a complete and unconditional ceasefire allows us to talk about everything. We are ready for dialogue in any format, with anyone, at any time, but only after there is a real signal that Russia is ready to stop the war. Such a signal is a complete and unconditional ceasefire,” Zelensky concluded.
It should be noted that U.S. President Donald Trump stated in an interview with Time magazine that Crimea will remain under Russian control even after the end of the Russo-Ukrainian war.
