Turkey's Foreign Ministry Response to Announcements on the Armenian Genocide Anniversary
Turkey's Foreign Ministry has responded to statements made by various countries commemorating the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. In doing so, it continues to deny the facts of the genocide.
“We categorically reject the statements made by authorities of some countries regarding the events of 1915 on April 24, 2025, which are made in violation of historical facts and international law. Attempts to use the pain of the past for political purposes are obviously futile,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry's statement reads.
Distorting history, it emphasizes that Turkey has always advocated for peace, dialogue, mutual understanding, and strengthening overall prosperity in the region. In this context, Turkey has opened its archives and proposed the establishment of a joint historical commission for an impartial and scientific study of the events of 1915.
“We declare that the efforts of radical circles to derive enmity from history should not be encouraged, and we reiterate our call to support the ongoing process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia,” the message concludes.
