Lavrov on Reduction of Migrant Numbers
Measures aimed at reducing the number of labor migrants are unlikely to align with Russia's interests. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a press conference held after his visit to Uzbekistan.
“If we look at the situation in broad terms, then, of course, the steps leading to a reduction in the number of labor migrants hardly serve our interests, as the lack of working hands may render relevant programs less realistic,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
He also noted that another issue is the necessity of adhering to Russian laws and “not allowing criminal trends to develop within the labor migrant community. Such cases do occur,” he added.
