A 100 Million Dram Apartment Will Be Sold, One Million Will Go to the State: Sukiasyan to Avetisyan

The economy has its logic. This was stated by MP Khachatur Sukiasyan of the ruling Civil Contract party during a session of the National Assembly, addressing opposition MP Tadevos Avetisyan. 'For instance, a person imports a car worth 4 million drams, paying a 30 percent tax – 10 percent customs duty and 20 percent VAT. Another person imports a car equivalent to 100 thousand dollars and again pays 30 percent; can you imagine, that’s ten times more. Of course, it would be great if in the future, one or two percent from sales could go to the state budget, but a very fair solution has been provided until today, when we talk about how the area and square meters are taken into account, forming the value,' he said.

In response, Avetisyan stated, 'We should not count properties by unit, but by value, because the property tax is not imposed per unit, but based on its value; the higher the property value, the more tax.' Sukiasyan suggested that it would be beneficial in the future to ask colleagues from the Ministry of Finance for one or two percent to come from sales.

'Imagine, again the budget would receive quite a significant amount because this money won’t even show up at the time of sale. If a 100 million dram apartment is sold, one million would go to the state; why not?' he concluded.
