Vardan Ghukasyan Will Not Be Extradited to Armenia: Details
Vardan Ghukasyan will not be extradited to Armenia. This was announced by the 'DOK' party.
'We have already declared our victory. We congratulated everyone. But we remained silent, not announcing the reason. Many were impatient, many wanted to know what this was about. We were waiting for the words of one person. And today, Vardan Ghukasyan himself confirmed that he will not be extradited to Armenia.
This is one of our great victories in the struggle. It is a victory of justice, achieved through principle, silence, and faith. We have never rushed. We did not speak until the moment everything should be heard directly from the one who was at the center of this struggle. His silence was a declaration for us, and today that silence has turned into clarity.
Any true movement has its internal rhythm. And we have never strayed from that rhythm. For us, it has always been important not to speak first, but to say the right thing at the right moment.
Today, we can wholeheartedly repeat: yes, this is a victory. But it is also a reminder that the struggle continues. The court proceedings are still ongoing, and we are waiting for full freedom.
We have congratulated the victory. Today, we declare what for. Tomorrow, together we will say the final word,' the statement noted.
It is recalled that on February 21, information was spread that Vardan Ghukasyan, residing in the USA, had been hospitalized with serious heart problems and that his condition was extremely severe. However, on February 27, a message was posted on the 'DOK' party's information page stating that Ghukasyan's whereabouts were unknown and that reports of him being in the hospital were not confirmed.
On February 28, it became known that Vardan Ghukasyan had been detained and was at a detention facility in Las Vegas. His lawyer, Levon Baghdasaryan, announced on March 19 that Vardan Ghukasyan would remain in custody.
