US Clarifies Conditions for Agreements with Russia
The United States will not ease sanctions against Russia or enter into bilateral agreements with it until a ceasefire is established in Ukraine, stated U.S. State Department spokesperson Thea Bruin. “There will be no negotiations, no resolution, and no agreements while this massacre continues,” she emphasized.
The spokesperson also noted that the Russian missile strike on Sumy, which resulted in the deaths of 35 people, has raised further questions about “who really wants peace and a ceasefire,” as reported by the German publication Deutsche Welle. Bruin referred to the war in Ukraine as a “meat grinder,” in which “nothing has changed.”
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg advised Donald Trump to approach Vladimir Putin’s “diplomatic intentions” with caution.
