Promises Were Fulfilled: Trump
The United States is collecting "record" amounts from tariffs, while the prices of almost all goods and inflation are declining, stated this announcement from President Donald Trump, published on his Truth Social social network.
"The United States is collecting record amounts from tariffs, while the prices of almost everything are decreasing, including gasoline, food, and almost everything. Inflation is also dropping. The promises were fulfilled," he wrote.
Recall that on the evening of April 2, U.S. President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs for imports from other countries. The White House leader stated that the base minimum rate would be ten percent, but the rate for each country would be adjusted and would be half the amount they charge from companies importing American goods.
He also imposed a 25% tariff on all foreign cars starting April 5.
New Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada would impose a 25 percent mirror tariff on all cars imported from the U.S. if they do not meet the conditions of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
