Minor Victims of Sexual Violence: Details Unveiled

The Investigation Committee of the Republic of Armenia has acquired substantial factual data regarding a criminal case being investigated by the Department for Crimes Against the Person, under the Main Investigation Department of Particularly Important Cases.

Recently, it was revealed that a convicted individual in a correctional facility exploited the dire financial circumstances of a parent of minor children. The convicted offered to carry out sexual violence against these minors, subjecting them to prostitution and other forms of sexual exploitation, while recording the acts and sending the footage to himself in exchange for material services, to which the parent seemingly consented.

Following this, the convict established communication with the parent through a fake social media account, demanding sexual violence against the children and their sexual exploitation, which the parent agreed to under the condition of receiving material benefits.

Moreover, the convict also subjected another minor to sexual exploitation in a similar manner and maintained the recordings on his mobile phone. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against one individual under several articles of the Criminal Code.

The court has remanded two individuals in custody as a preventive measure. The criminal proceedings have been sent to the supervising prosecutor with an accusatory conclusion, suggesting submission to the court for review and decision.
