A Unified Emergency Number 911 and 112 to Operate: Minister of Internal Affairs

A unified emergency phone number for rescue services and the police will be established in Armenia. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan.

The number 911 (Rescue Service) and 112 (Police), most likely, will be replaced by the latter. According to Sargsyan, the call centers will merge not only because both services are under the Ministry of Internal Affairs but also because citizens do not always understand when a crisis situation necessitates police intervention and when it requires the assistance of rescuers.

The decisions will be made by the staff of the call center.
