Few More Buildings Will Be Constructed Behind Us, Tunyan

Residents affected by the construction of a large residential complex in Davtashen have once again taken to the streets in protest. They blocked Anastas Mikoyan Street (Yeghvard Highway) demanding attention from government agencies.

The complex consists of six buildings with more than 1,000 apartments, and its developer, N&S Construction, went bankrupt after receiving a completion certificate from the municipality. Residents have been unable to obtain ownership certificates following the developer's bankruptcy.

Babken Tunyan, a member of the civil faction, is among those affected by the developer's failure. Although he did not join the protesting citizens in blocking the road, he agreed that there should be pressure from the government.

“I haven't gotten involved until now because people might think that I want to solve my personal interests as a deputy. Now the developer has called and said that we can come on Tuesday to sign the transfer act. I told them to send the transfer act. They sent it, and I saw that it contained unreasonable conditions. I told them to inform the developer and the owner that not only will I not sign this transfer act, but none of the current residents will sign it either, as it is unacceptable to impose conditions on people this way. We do not agree with either the building or the conditions they have written; it is just a matter of time before they start constructing more buildings behind us,” said the deputy.

He insisted that they should fulfill their promises: “There should also be pressure from the government.”
