Canadian Prime Minister Wants to Re-arm Military
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced plans to modernize the country’s armed forces after relying on U.S. defense for an extended period of time.
“For far too long, our armed forces have been underfunded and overly dependent on the United States. During the last Conservative government, we spent less than 1% of our GDP on defense. We will not only bring Canada's armed forces up to modern standards,” he stated.
The Prime Minister noted that Canada will also engage in the rearmament of Europe and the strengthening of transatlantic security by participating in initiatives such as the coalition of nations providing assistance to Ukraine. To achieve these goals, Ottawa will promote the development of domestic defense production.
