Court Ruling on Individual Who Threw Apple at Pashinyan
71-year-old Albert Arstamyan, who threw an apple at Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from the 9th floor of a building, has been acquitted. This decision was made by the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction.
The judge announced, "The court does not find the presence of the crime defined by the first part of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, attributed to Albert Nikolaevich Arstamyan, to be proven," indicating that an acquittal has effectively been decided.
Arstamyan had been charged with hooliganism. A restraining measure had been applied to the man, prohibiting him from leaving the country.
It is noteworthy that last August, Pashinyan had visited the home of a relative in Yerevan, and a resident had thrown an apple at him from the window. Albert Arstamyan had previously acknowledged that he threw an apple from the ninth floor, but argued that it was not aimed directly at the Prime Minister but in that general direction.
