The first deputy mayor will be Avetis Arakelyan, said Vardan Ghukasian, a candidate for the mayor of Gyumri, in an interview with News.am. Regarding his relationship with Martun Grigoryan, he stated that they do not have tense relations.

“I have read Martun Grigoryan's statement. We haven’t talked to each other. We are not Turks and Armenians, we will talk. I am a forgiving person. He has acted correctly; it can be difficult to make such statements, but I know that they have done this for their name, and a name is more important than material things. What is being presented about our families is not true. There are more political issues than personal ones; I don’t want to go into too much detail,” said Ghukasian.
