The powerful earthquake that struck Thailand on March 28 has been recognized by the kingdom's authorities as a major disaster. This was announced by the country's Minister of Internal Affairs, Anutin Charnvirakul, as reported by TASS.

It is noted that, according to the national disaster prevention and mitigation program, the disaster response level has been elevated to that of a major disaster.

Following the stabilization of the situation in the country, the authorities will assess the damage. Currently, all efforts are directed towards providing urgent assistance to the affected.

On March 28, two powerful earthquakes were recorded in Myanmar, with magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4. Strong aftershocks were felt in Thailand, and both countries reported significant damage to homes, roads, and other infrastructure.
