Imported Pigs Fail Proper Inspections, Becoming Vectors for Infections: Danielyan
Member of the National Assembly from the "Armenia" faction, Garnik Danielyan, has made a statement on Facebook. He noted, "Those engaged in pig farming have raised alarm that imported pigs are not being properly disinfected under the guise of pedigree, and their large-scale importation creates unequal competitive conditions for local producers.
Farmers have reported that selling meat in the local market has become problematic. Moreover, the price of pig feed has increased recently.
There are also reports that the imported pigs do not pass proper inspections, thus becoming carriers of infections. The livestock population is decreasing day by day. We do not have well-equipped laboratories or qualified personnel; animal husbandry is not appealing to the youth.
This is a food security issue, and the state's incompetent attitude towards the sector is unacceptable," he wrote.
