When Will the Competition for a New Supplier of Passports and Identification Cards Conclude?
After 8 years, the competition for a new supplier of passports and identification cards will conclude at the end of March. This was stated by Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan in the National Assembly.
Since 2007, the Polish company PWPW has been supplying passports and ID cards in Armenia. The contract, which ended in 2017, has been extended several times, but no new supplier has been appointed.
One French and two German companies participated in the new competition for the supplier of passports and identification cards. Sargsyan mentioned that only 2 companies remain in the final stage, but did not provide details about their proposals.
The winning company will need to establish the infrastructure for document printing within a year. According to the project by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the private operator will handle the printing and provide the documents. The ministry claims that this will enhance the service level of the passport and visa departments.
