Ukraine's 'Chaotic' Retreat Through the Eyes of Russian Soldiers
Ukrainian soldier Artem Karyakin stated that their unit had been regularly infiltrated from the Russian Kursk region's city of Sudzha; however, last week, Ukrainian forces were forced to retreat. He shows a video revealing the passing of burnt military and civilian vehicles.
Artem admits that the retreat was poorly organized: 'It was quite chaotic since the withdrawal order was given very late, and many units left without organization.'
Despite this, he considers the Ukrainian invasion of Kursk a success, as it forced Russia to shift forces from the east. Nevertheless, he acknowledges that Ukraine's operations were excessively deep and depended solely on one supply route.
At the time of the retreat, U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin were discussing options to cease the war. Artem regards these negotiations as 'absurd': 'Trump wants to end the war because he promised, while Putin is trying to deceive him to continue the war.'
Ukraine continues its counteroffensive operations not only towards Kursk but also in the Belgorod direction. Soldier Sergey emphasized that these attacks are necessary as Russia is also trying to create a 'buffer zone' within Ukrainian territory.
Sergey highlights that Ukraine still heavily relies on U.S. military aid. However, due to Trump's focus on peace, that support has become more uncertain: 'If America does not help Ukraine, then the ceasefire will be concluded very quickly but under very unfavorable conditions.'
