Armenian Foreign Ministry on the Opening of Armenian-Turkish Border
There is no progress regarding the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border. This is evident from the response of the Armenian Foreign Ministry to a query from Sputnik Armenia.
The media outlet asked the Foreign Ministry for information about the current phase of the project regarding the reconstruction of the Ani Bridge on the Armenia-Turkey border. They also inquired about the steps taken towards the restoration of the Akhurik-Akyaka railway crossing.
“We inform you that the Foreign Ministry timely informs the public about developments within the framework of the Armenia-Turkey normalization process,” the ministry's response stated.
It is also noted that the “Margara” checkpoint is not operational, where Armenian authorities recently organized a tour for Turkish journalists.
Yerevan and Ankara had agreed to open it for citizens of third countries and holders of diplomatic passports back in 2022; however, the “Margara” remains closed.
