Putin Sets Conditions to Halt War in Ukraine

During a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed his principled commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict, as reported by the Kremlin.

Putin stated that he is ready to work with his American counterparts to develop possible pathways for resolving the situation in Ukraine, which, according to him, should be stable and long-term. He emphasized that the resolution must take into account the absolute necessity to eliminate the root causes of the crisis, as well as the legitimate security interests of Russia.

Commenting on the 30-day ceasefire initiative, the Russian president highlighted several important points regarding the provision of oversight for any possible ceasefire.

“The main condition for preventing the escalation of the conflict should be the complete cessation of external military assistance and the provision of intelligence data to Kyiv,” the Kremlin believes.
