Gunfire Heard in Armenian-populated Areas of Syria as Clashes Continue

Clashes continue in Syria between the forces loyal to Assad and armed groups of the new regime. People are exercising caution and are not leaving their homes during these times until the situation calms down.

The forces maintaining security in the area have declared a curfew with the aim of waiting for the situation to ease. This was stated in an interview with Armenpress by Zarmik Pogikyan, the chief editor of the Aleppo-based newspaper 'Gandzasar', noting that casualties are being reported among governmental forces, militants, and ordinary citizens alike.

Recall that clashes began in Syria between government forces and Alawite factions supporting former President Bashar al-Assad. Supporters of the former president carried out an attack against 'Hayat Tahrir al-Sham', which came to power in the country last December.
