Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has stated that the trade war declared by U.S. President Donald Trump is a "foolish" move aimed at the "complete collapse" of the Canadian economy and facilitating the process of annexation. The Guardian reports on this matter.

Recently, the U.S. has implemented tariffs ranging from 10-25% on Canadian imports, to which Canada has responded by imposing its own tariffs on American goods, emphasizing its commitment to fighting against its neighbor's aggression.

“Today, the United States has started a trade war against Canada. We have faced difficult situations before… but we not only survived, we came out stronger than ever, because when it comes to defending our great nation, there is no price we are not willing to pay, and today is the same situation,” Trudeau stated.

He also pointed out that ordinary Americans would suffer greatly, losing jobs and paying higher prices for food and energy. “Donald, despite being a very smart guy, this is a very foolish thing,” Trudeau remarked. He also addressed Trump's claims that Canada should yield its sovereignty and become the 51st state of the country, saying, “That will never happen. We will never be the 51st state.”
