“Football Belongs to the Fans”: FAF Claims HFF Leadership Resignation is Inevitable
The Armenian national team fans’ group, the “Armenian First Front” (FAF), has issued a statement.
“We inform you that during the pre-announced and peaceful demonstration demanding the resignation of the HFF leadership at the HPL match between “Pyunik” and “Ararat-Armenia”, nine devoted fans of Armenian football were arrested due to the disproportionate and violent actions of the Armenian police.
We find it necessary to mention that the participants in the demonstration expressed their willingness to leave the pitch and meet with any of the HFF leadership during negotiations with the police, which was categorically rejected by a representative of the HFF, after which unnecessary force was used.
Once again, we inform you that the demonstrations are purely peaceful and football-related. We call for the immediate release of those unjustly detained. Football belongs to the fans, our will is unbreakable. The resignation is inevitable,” the statement reads.
